I am not a big flower painter, but I received these from my sister-in-law, and I just couldn't resist! They were so lovely. The black background may be a bit strong, but I liked the contrast - next time I will try something a little softer. It felt good to keep the brushwork loose and spontaneous - a hard thing for me when I paint.

This is a little more of the East Coast childhood sentimentality! I spent a lot of time as a kid pouring over the shoreline, looking for treasures, and you just couldn't beat the feeling of finding that special rock or shell. I was, and still am, especially drawn to sea glass. There is just something about the history - the wondering where that beautiful gem began its life and what journeys it faced along the way.
