After the Breakup

After the Breakup

oil on canvas

6x6

I guess I should have posted the other cherry painting first...but I will keep you in suspense. I was really drawn to the very obvious missing cherry in this little composition. Tried a lighter background on this one, and had fun pushing the paint around, adding color without getting too dark.

Yellow Roses

Yellow Roses

oil on canvas

5x7

I am not a big flower painter, but I received these from my sister-in-law, and I just couldn't resist! They were so lovely. The black background may be a bit strong, but I liked the contrast - next time I will try something a little softer. It felt good to keep the brushwork loose and spontaneous - a hard thing for me when I paint.

Creamo

Creamo

oil on canvas

5x7

This is another daily from my annual painting trip - highlighting one of my favourite parts of the day...my morning coffee. Such a peaceful routine each morning which is the best time on our trips to review the previous day's work! The details on the carton were a bit of a challenge, but it definitely finished recognizable!

Elevator Sunrise

Elevator Sunrise

oil on board

5x7

This fun little elevator painting came out of a sky study for a larger elevator piece - I was just mashing some colors around on the board to work out what I liked, and then I just couldn't resist finishing the painting. Very loose - lots of fun pushing the paint around on this one!
